Simplify "A Hero's Journey"

" I went to Medical school to help myself and others live the best and healthiest lives possible.  The day I started Medical School was the day I started  down the path of dis-Health or Disease (Diss Ease) .  So what is a Hero's Journey?  Why not just become "Enlightened"?  Practice Mindfulness? What I Learned Surfing Costa Rica

Live life! Love Life! Saver Life! JUST BE! Be in the moment! It is  never a bad day when you are your surf board! I was so excited to fulfill my life time goal of learning to surf. Ever since I was a young boy living in Hawaii I have wanted to learn to surf.   I am now part  a very elite group of athletes.  Surfers talk in a language different than the rest. How surfing has a huge impact in their lives. On some level, it is a religion. This became very clear to me! The surfing life style is a religion. A life style, a way of viewing the word that brings life into perspective. What is really important! This attitude or view has truly changed my life. This mind set weaves in and out of both the Emotional and Intuitional Mountains. Mom's Advice: Get It done Son!

Mom's! This pandemic has taught me so much about people.  More important, it has taught me so much about myself.  Now living in this new world, I keep reflecting back on some of the biggest lessons I have learned.  My biggest support and foundation going through tough times has been my mother(s).   If you take a close look at the photos's I have used in the blog, there is a woman in the ocean just behind the young boy.  This beautiful brave person is his mother.  She took him out into the surf of one of the most aggressive surfing breaks on Maui.  She swam him out into the surf.  Always the protector.  The Momma Bear.  She gave him a safe space to go after his dream to surf.  She let go!  She set him free! The Coin

  For Christmas in 2023 I gave a Decision coin to those I care deeply about.  I continue to give the coins and over the past year I have given out over 100.   What is a Decision coin you may ask? It is a coin used to make decisions of course.  When you find yourself in a position you need to make a choice between 2 things.  Assign one choice Heads and one Tails.  Flip the coin.  Where it lands is the one you go with it.   Do not look back! This started for me when I was on a trip the to the Big Island with close friends and my son Scott.  We found ourselves multiple times trying to make a choice on what to do, where to go or what to eat.  He would pull out this coin and say Head or Tails!  Flip it.  Off we could go! The Redirection of Fear  "Still water runs deep" Mark Divine   Because of the COVID-19 (CV19) pandemic we have all been under significant stress and fear of the unknown.  As the issues have become more of a reality, it has been interesting how each of us as individuals have handled it.  From complete disregard to total panic, to hoarding behaviors.  Some run and hide.  Others hit it head on looking for solutions. Health This is the corner of stone life. Mental, Physical, Spiritual. Eat fresh and whole food. If you can paint a colorful picture with  the colors on your plate, you are eating well!  Add seeds and nuts for snacks.   Serving size no larger than your fist. Avoid the 3 white devils: Sugar, processed flower and dairy. A high fiber diet keeps our gut biome or good bacteria healthy which in turn, keeps you healthy! Hydrate.  No soda! 1 oz of water per 2 pounds of body weight per day!   Above and beyond your water intake requirement, c offee and tea are excellent antioxidants in moderation. Studies are now demonstrating that they have cancer preventing qualities. They may also help with improving diabetes and cardiovascular health. Yoga Flow 1

"The Flow Of The Breath" The practice of Yoga builds mental toughness, flexibility, balance and strength.  This is my Daily practice. Enjoy!  Do not forget to SMILE!   The "Flow State Yoga"  Routine: Start with 5 minutes of Box Breathing followed my 5 to 10 minutes of Meditation.   I  use the breath to transition.  Inhale, exhale move (flow) to the next.  I use the Deep Breath as "stop" anywhere from 2 to 5 breaths.  I am listening to my body.  What is it saying?  How are my muscles feeling?  Are they tight?  Is there pain?  Warmth?  How is My balance?  How is my breath effected by the transition or sitting in the pose.   I move slow and intentional.   Moving gently through each transition.  Remember to breathe.   Through your nose comes in  the breath.  Bringing fresh oxygen.  Energy.  Abundance!  "You got this" I say to my s...
